On behalf of his clients, John Galvin has obtained noteworthy results at the local, regional, and national levels. Exceptional handling of sophisticated litigation matters has led to John being asked to serve as:

  • Member of the National Trial Team for Baxter Healthcare in the Hemophilia/AIDS Litigation
  • Member of the National Trial Team for Shell Oil Company in the MTBE Product Liability Litigation
  • Member of the National Trial Team for GlaxoSmithKline in the Baycol Litigation

John has handled a wide variety of matters from class action cases filed in jurisdictions like Madison County, Illinois, to environmental litigation cases involving hundreds of millions of dollars in damages, to pharmaceutical and medical device matters filed by dozens of plaintiffs.

John has developed a reputation as an accomplished trial attorney. His successful trial results include:

  • Defense verdict for manufacturer of forklift in Madison County product liability case involving traumatic leg amputation
  • Defense verdict in case involving traumatic arm amputation brought in E. St. Louis, Illinois, in first hay baler case taken to verdict by manufacturer
  • Verdict in favor of client for over $300,000 alleging fraud in commercial litigation case involving the sale of a business
  • Defense verdict in City of St. Louis case alleging neurological injuries in use of agricultural product

Working with a team of Fox Galvin lawyers, John has defeated a number of class action cases, including:

  • Reversal of “drive by” nationwide class action brought against auto manufacturer
  • Dismissal of putative nationwide Madison County class action alleging billing fraud
  • Denial of class certification in St. Louis case alleging fraud in connection with taxicab services
  • Denial of class certification by MDL Judge in S. District of New York on consolidated claims alleging environmental and product liability in connection with a gasoline additive

In addition to his work at the trial court level, John has briefed and argued a number of appeals, including:

  • Successful argument before Missouri Supreme Court representing the Judges of the Circuit Court for the City of St. Louis in a dispute over political appointments
  • Successful 7th Circuit appeal establishing a manufacturer has no post-sale duty to warn under Illinois law
  • Successful 8th Circuit appeal establishing a product manufacturer cannot be liable when an intervening party modifies the product

John Galvin’s practice currently includes the defense of various class action, pharmaceutical, product liability, environmental and commercial litigation matters, typically in St. Louis, Missouri or in Madison or St. Clair County, Illinois, but frequently on a regional or national basis.

John is also a founder of New Commandment Ministries, a charitable organization dedicated to helping children at risk. He participates in yearly mission trips to the slums of Nairobi, Kenya, where New Commandment provides Christian children's ministry training, as well as clean water, vocational training and education projects for children.
