anufacturer of a forklift sued by a man who lost his leg in a tailswing acci=
dent. After a two week trial, a Madison County, Illinois jury returned a ver=
dict finding no fault on the part of the manufacturer. In an East St. Louis,=
 Illinois trial, a federal jury returned a defense verdict for Mr. Galvin=
=92s client, the manufacturer of a hay baler. The plaintiff, who had lost hi=
s arm at the shoulder while reaching into the machine=92s moving parts, soug=
ht $3 Million from the jury.=0D=0AIn the Circuit Court for the City of St. L=
ouis, Mr. Galvin has obtained defense verdicts for manufacturers of products=
 including agricultural equipment and automobiles. In the Missouri federal c=
ourt, he received a directed verdict in a case claiming defect in a printing=
 press. On appeal, the Eighth Circuit upheld the result, establishing a good=
 precedent regarding the modification of products.=0D=0ARecently, more of Mr=
. Galvin=92s work has involved the defense of mass tort and class action cla=
ims. He has served as a member of the national trial team for the processor =
of a blood derivative accused of infecting thousands of hemophiliacs with th=
e AIDS virus, handling litigation in various states across the country. He i=
s co-counsel for two petroleum companies in connection with nationwide litig=
ation alleging millions of drinking water wells have been contaminated throu=
gh the oil industry=92s use of a gasoline additive. He has handled putative =
nationwide class action cases involving billing for clinical laboratory test=
ing, charges in connection with shipping of bicycles, claims of defective ex=
haust manifolds on hundreds of thousands of vehicles, labeling on over the c=
ounter pharmaceutical products, and others.=0D=0AMr. Galvin=92s appellate ex=
perience includes arguments in various state courts of appeals, as well as i=
n the Courts of Appeals for the 7th and 8th Circuits. In a case taken to the=
 Missouri Supreme Court, Mr. Galvin was hired by the judges of the St. Louis=
 Circuit Court, successfully convincing the Supreme Court that a provision o=
f the charter of a local commission requiring judicial involvement in the ap=
pointment of trustees was unconstitutional.=0D=0AMr. Galvin received his und=
ergraduate degree in English from Marquette University in 1982 and his law d=
egree from Washington University in 1986. He is a member of the American Bar=
 Association, the Defense Research Institute and a number of local bar assoc=
iations. He is a regular speaker at seminars regarding various litigation is=
sues, has been a guest lecturer at St. Louis University School of Law, and s=
erved as the seminar chair for The Network of Trial Law Firms.
