ney defended an international pharmaceutical company against class-action me=
dical monitoring and consumer fraud claims in Illinois state court. Mr. Down=
ey=92s client obtained a voluntary dismissal of plaintiff=92s claims after t=
he trial court determined it would not certify a class. =0D=0AMr. Downey als=
o represented an accountant charged in a Missouri administrative proceeding =
with disclosing confidential client information. Mr. Downey and his client c=
onvinced the Division of Professional Registration to close the case, withou=
t further action or imposing any discipline, after the initial investigation=
.=0D=0AMr. Downey graduated with honors from Georgetown University and first=
 in his class from Washington University School of Law, where he was Executi=
ve Articles Editor of the Washington University Law Quarterly and research a=
ssistant to Dean Dorsey D. Ellis, Jr. A former high school teacher, Mr. Down=
ey now serves as an adjunct professor of legal ethics at Washington Universi=
ty School of Law, chair of the professional ethics committee of the Bar Asso=
ciation of Metropolitan St. Louis, and a member of the Illinois State Bar As=
sociation=92s Standing Committee on Professional Conduct. He also has given =
presentations regarding legal ethics, federal appellate practice, and privac=
y issues affecting attorneys, employers and healthcare professionals.=0D=0AM=
